Joseph S. Vasile, M.D., MBA
President/CEO

Joseph S. Vasile, MD, MBA joined GRIPA as President/CEO in July 2010.
Dr. Vasile is a practicing physician who is Board Certified in Psychiatry with a subspecialty in Geriatric Psychiatry. He has held several hospital and administrative appointments in Rochester, including Chief of the Behavioral Health Network for the Rochester General Health System, Director of Psychiatry and Mental Health Services at the Rochester Rehabilitation Center, Chief Psychiatrist for Geriatric Psychiatry, Intermediate Care and Neuropsychiatry Units at Rochester Psychiatric Center and Director of Acute Psychiatric Services at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Vasile has served on a number of hospital committees dedicated to quality, education, and organizational planning. He has been a member of GRIPA’s Finance Committee since 2003. Dr. Vasile is active in several professional and scientific societies and has published articles in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry and Schizophrenia Research. He is a member of the American College of Physician Executives and is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
He completed his undergraduate studies at Yale University, received his Doctorate of Medicine degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. Following a residency in Psychiatry at the University Health Center of Pittsburgh, Vasile completed a Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Vasile is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Eric Nielsen, M.D.
Chief Medical Officer

Eric Nielsen, M.D., has served as GRIPA’s Chief Medical Officer since 2004, where he leads a multi-specialist medical staff. He is leading the implementation of GRIPA Connect™ Clinical Integration.
Prior to his appointment, he served the community for 29 years as a practitioner of internal medicine. Dr. Nielsen attended medical school and completed his residency at the University of Rochester. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
He is past president of the Rochester General Physicians Organization and has chaired several committees at Rochester General Hospital and within GRIPA. Dr. Nielsen has been designated a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) by the Certifying Commission in Medical Management (CCMM).
He is Chair of the Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) Task Force on Clinical Integration.

Jeff Dmochowski, M.D.
Associate Medical Director

Jeff Dmochowski, M.D. has been the Associate Medical Director for GRIPA since April, 2009.
In his current position he monitors: care management services, peer review of physician process and performance measures, guideline development and deployment, and ePrescribing rollout and enhancement through the GRIPA Connect Portal.
After completing medical school at Jefferson Medical College and an internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital, NYC, he served in the United States Navy as a flight surgeon and completed his surgical training at SUNY Buffalo with board certification in both General and Colon and Rectal Surgery. Prior to assuming his current role at GRIPA he practiced colon and rectal surgery with the Rochester Colon and Rectal Surgeons group for 29 years.
A former president of the Rochester General Hospital medical staff, he is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.

Bill Pelino, CPA, MBA
Chief Operating Officer

Bill Pelino was named GRIPA Chief Operating Officer in 2008. He is part of the senior management team and has responsibilities for operations throughout the company.
The Rochester native most recently served as Controller, Paychex Human Resources Business Unit and also previously worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers. Bill is a CPA and holds an MBA from the Simon School of Business, University of Rochester and an undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame.
He is an Executive Board Member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Rochester Chapter and has been a "40 Under 40" Award Recipient.
